Ranking transparency

The list is ordered by how many members of that community have published a release on SynthCamp, most first. A member counts once, however many releases they have put out, and they count from the moment a release of theirs is published.
Someone is counted as a member of a community when they signed up through a link that community shared. That is the only way the platform knows where somebody came from, and it is a first-touch record: it is set once, at signup, and never changes afterwards.
Two partners with the same count are ordered by name, A to Z. Since the order has to be the same for everyone who loads the page, the tie-break is written down rather than left to the database.
The size of the community does not count. Neither does how much traffic it sent, how many people signed up without releasing anything, how much money those people spent, or how long the partnership has run. Nobody can pay to move up this list, and no placement here is for sale.
There is no human step. The order is computed from the platform's own records and refreshed at least every fifteen minutes, so a release published today moves the list the same day. No editor arranges it.
What SynthCamp asks a community for is an artist, not a logo. A small community whose members actually release music is doing the thing the partnership exists for, and a large one that sends visitors who never publish is not. Ordering on published artists says that out loud instead of rewarding reach.
It also keeps two things off a public page that do not belong there: how many people a partner sent, which is our own business, and how much a partner's members earned, which is theirs.
A community or music site appears once the link is mutual, which means it shows SynthCamp to its members. Being listed is not an endorsement of anyone's music: a community partner does not approve, licence or vet what its members release, and a name on that page says nothing about any release's Creative Credits.
The list is reviewed every three months and a community that has gone quiet comes off it.
