How it works

1. We read the provenance frames written into the file when it was encoded.
2. We look up the signing key by its id in the public registry.
3. We confirm the Ed25519 signature covers the exact credits, so a forged tag cannot pass.

The signature seals what the artist declared, not a claim that the declaration is true. Read more on the trust page or in the provenance spec.
